Dog Beach of Hollywood Update

Here's a brief update as to where we've been and where we're headed. We requested a meeting with City Manager Cameron Benson, and he responded that he is looking forward to meeting with us and addressing questions/concerns. We are awaiting an actual meeting date at this point.

Mayor Giulianti has suggested we move the site location to John Lloyd State Park, and the City has been investigating that possibility. Florida Administrative Code currently prohibits dogs on the beach at John Lloyd.

A brief correction to the last newsletter: it was Park East Civic Association and not Parkside Civic Association that voted to support North Beach in opposing the trial run.

Please, I know I sound like a broken record here, but if you haven't written your email of support, do it now. If you haven't asked your friends/neighbors/random strangers walking dogs to do the same, please do. Many generous people have asked how they can help-that is how to help. If you're not a Hollywood resident, find someone who is. I don't have time to go door to door-that is where you can help.

Here's how to express your support if you are a Hollywood resident:

Option 1)
You can find a flashing link on our website at www.dboh.org on the left side of the page. Click on that and follow the instructions.

Option 2)
Copy and paste the following addresses and write an email. [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]

You can use the following text or write your own: "Dear Mayor and Commissioners: I am a registered voter in Hollywood and I request your support for a trial run of a dog beach in Hollywood." You MUST include your name AND address for it to be helpful.

One final note:
There seems to be some confusion about the trial run. It has not yet been approved, so if you are taking your dog to Hollywood Beach at this time you are actually hurting our cause. If you have comments, questions, or are interested in taking an active volunteer role, please contact me: [email protected]
