Dear Dog Beach friends,

 

I want to thank all of you who have been so active in helping us promote our clean up/ crime watch event, specially Terry Cantrell, Howard Schoem & Brian Daigle. We all ready have 15 people signed up, however I would like to ask for more volunteers since we have 10 blocks to cover & a very important goal at hand.  

As I mentioned in our last newsletter, there has been a wave of auto vandalism in the parking lot.  Upon further investigation, we have opted to be more active since auto vandalism is happening at all hours of the day & as often as 5 in one morning. We have expanded our efforts & joined forces with The North Beach Association, The Hollywood Lakes Section Civics Association, the Team Hollywood Lakes & the Police Department.

We will have an officer present & our main objective will be to hand out postcards advising people not to become a target & to report any suspicious activity.  We have at least 10 blocks to cover & since this is a common recreational area for all residents, we ask that you spread the word & help us recruit more volunteers. We are all facing vandalism in our neighborhoods & the more people, the stronger the message for those responsible; who I am certain will be present as well.   Because it can get very hot & even an hour in the sun can be difficult to handle. I have designed a rotation schedule so that you can take breaks every 30-40 minutes.  We will try to have 2 canopies at the beach with refreshments, were you can rest & continue to pass postcards as people walk in.  

We will have 3 cleaning sessions:
7- 8:30 A.M.
12:00 - 1:30 P.M.
5- 6:30 P.M.
